Ashley has trained for eleven years at University to achieve his qualification as a specialist orthodontist. He worked as a general dentist for over ten years before returning to the University of Melbourne for three years of full-time specialist training in Orthodontics. He is a board certified Orthodontist with the Australian Orthodontic Board. Having received orthodontics he understands the life changing effects it can have on the individual, and strives to provide these positive changes to each and every patient at Top End Orthodontics.

He received his dental training at the University of Adelaide with honours, where he was the dux of fourth and final year. He is a Fellow of the Australasian dental college in Dentistry, achieving the highest mark for their primary examinations.

Ashley is passionate about Dentistry and worked in Darwin for eight years with Dr. Kerry Eupene OAM at Smith Street Dental. This included working remotely across the top end, and with the refugees at Wickham Point Detention Centre. He has previously held clinical privileges seeing children at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Ashley is a passionate advocate for Darwin and the top end. He was the President of Australian Dental Association (NT Branch) and committee member for eight years. He is also a team leader and volunteer for the Timor Leste Dental Programme providing support and training to the people of remote East Timor.

He has been recognised for his volunteering with honorary fellowships of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and International College of Dentists. He is an avid runner and member of the Darwin Runners and Walkers Club, Parkrun and has completed four of the six world marathon majors around the globe.
