Treatment

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners, such as Invisalign®, have revolutionised orthodontics and are now available for a wide variety of treatments in adults and children. They are very thin, almost invisible, removable retainers that are changed weekly in consultation with your orthodontist. Your teeth with straighten little by little until they get to their final positions. Invisalign is made with advanced 3D computing technology that can visualise and simulate your treatment and final smile.

It is easy to continue brushing and flossing as the aligners are removable. You can take them out for eating and for very important social events. They are comfortable with no metal or pointy bits during treatment. Most of your friends and family will not even be able to tell you are wearing aligners. Treatment time vary depending on the case but normally range from 9 to 18 months.

We are a certified Invisalign provider and have received specialist training in advanced use of these aligners. Please arrange specialist consultation with us to see if Invisalign is right for you.

Metal Braces

These are the most common conventional braces we all grew up with. They are very strong, versatile and very efficient across a range of different treatment situations. They are fixed to your teeth and tightened every 6 to 8 weeks by your Orthodontist. They can be applied with various colours (modules) of your choice.

Dental Monitoring

Smarter Check-Ins, Anywhere You Are

Dental Monitoring is a convenient and innovative way to stay on top of your orthodontic treatment – without needing to visit the clinic as often. Using a simple app on your phone and a special scan box, you can send photos of your teeth from home, work, or wherever life takes you.

At Top End Orthodontics, we use Dental Monitoring to track your progress in real time, provide feedback, and make sure everything is on track – saving you time while keeping your treatment efficient and personalised.

It’s orthodontic care that fits your lifestyle.

What is Dental Monitoring?

Dental Monitoring is an orthodontic software that enables us to monitor your treatment via an app on your smartphone (either Android or IOS). The app is connected to software on our computers, allowing us to keep in touch and track the progress of your treatment.

Dr Brittany Shearn is a Dental Monitoring ambassador and guest lecturer, and she is passionate about making our patients’ treatment more accurate and convenient with this revolutionary software.

How does Dental Monitoring work?

Before we set up Dental Monitoring for you, we need to assess your jaws and teeth to determine your orthodontic treatment needs. After a tailored treatment plan has been prepared and you commit to orthodontic treatment, we’ll connect you with the Dental Monitoring app.

Every 7-10 days you’ll send us smile selfies through the Dental Monitoring app. We’ll assess the photos you send us and match them up against your projected treatment progress. As long as everything looks good, we won’t need to see you at our practice!

In fact, if your teeth are moving faster than expected, we may even be able to speed up your clear aligner treatment time by moving you to a new set of aligners!

How Dental Monitoring keeps your orthodontic treatment on track

During your free consultation, we will use our cutting-edge scanner to make an accurate digital model of your smile. We use this model to plan out your bespoke treatment and to match your progress against the Dental Monitoring software.

The Dental Monitoring app captures high-definition dental images that go through a 3D calculation process. This evaluation of the progress of your treatment results in faster orthodontic treatment times and more accurate results.

Benefits of Dental Monitoring

The many benefits that Dental Monitoring provide include:

  • Accurate monitoring of your orthodontic treatment progress with weekly selfies.
  • Fewer in-person appointments to attend – just send photos of your smile from wherever you are to ensure no delays in your treatment.
  • Peace of mind that your treatment is progressing as it should.
  • Weekly selfies help us to track your treatment even more closely, which allows us to make swift adjustments to treatment as needed – and sometimes shortens your treatment time!
  • Even though you’ll see us less, you can contact our team whenever you want through the app. This means we’ll actually have even better communication throughout treatment.
  • The Dental Monitoring app is simple to use. Even if you’re technologically challenged we’ll make it easy for you!

Orthodontic Treatment for Children

Why Early Orthodontic Visits Matter

You might be wondering why the Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic check-up around age seven. Here’s why we support that advice at Top End Orthodontics.

At this age, a child’s teeth and jaws are still developing and are more responsive to gentle orthodontic guidance. This means any necessary treatment is typically more comfortable and effective. However, not every child who visits us at this stage will need treatment right away.

This early consultation is more about planning and prevention. By age seven, the first adult molars have usually erupted, allowing us to assess how the bite is developing – from front to back and side to side. Identifying any potential concerns early on helps us create a personalised monitoring plan and, if needed, begin treatment at the optimal time.

Most children won’t need braces at age seven – but this initial visit is a smart step toward protecting their long-term oral health and setting the foundation for a confident, healthy smile.

Invisalign First – Gentle, Clear Treatment for Growing Smiles

Invisalign First is specially designed for young children who need early orthodontic care – typically between the ages of 6 and 10. These clear, comfortable aligners guide the growth of your child’s teeth and jaws, helping to create space for permanent teeth and correct bite issues early on.

At Top End Orthodontics, we use Invisalign First to make early treatment simple, effective, and kid-friendly. The aligners are removable, easy to clean, and virtually invisible – making them a great alternative to traditional expanders or braces.

Start your child’s smile journey with confidence and comfort.

Orthodontic Treatment for Adults

Braces for Adults

At Top End Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer the latest in orthodontic technology – because achieving your dream smile shouldn’t be limited by age or outdated options. With today’s modern techniques, adult treatment is more discreet, comfortable, and efficient than ever before.

Clear Aligners

These virtually invisible aligners gently move your teeth into place without the need for brackets or wires. They’re also removable, so you can eat, brush, and attend important events with ease.

Clear Braces

These tooth-coloured braces use advanced 3D technology to straighten teeth with less friction and often in less time than traditional braces. They’re a great option if you prefer a fixed treatment that blends in naturally with your smile.
