Meet the Team

Dr. Ashley completed more than eleven years of university training to become a Specialist Orthodontist. Ashley graduated with Honours from the University of Adelaide, where he achieved dux of both fourth and final year Dentistry. He is also a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dentistry, receiving the highest mark in their primary examinations. 

Before specialising, he worked as a general dentist for over a decade, giving him a broad understanding of dental care and patient needs. He later returned to the University of Melbourne for three years of full-time specialist orthodontic training and is proudly Board Certified with the Australian Orthodontic Board.

Before establishing Top End Orthodontics, Ashley spent eight years practising dentistry in Darwin alongside Dr. Kerry Eupene at Smith Street Dental. During this time, he provided dental services throughout remote communities across the Top End and worked with refugees in immigration detention. Travelling extensively throughout the Northern Territory gave him a deep appreciation for the people, culture and unique environment of this vibrant part of the world. He has also previously held clinical privileges treating children at Royal Darwin Hospital.

Ashley is a passionate advocate for Darwin and the wider Top End community. He served for eight years as President and committee member of the Australian Dental Association NT Branch and continues to support oral health initiatives locally and abroad. He is also a volunteer team leader with the Timor Leste Dental Programme, helping provide dental training and support to remote communities in East Timor.

In recognition of his volunteer and professional contributions, Ashley has received honorary fellowships from the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists.

Outside the clinic, Ashley enjoys an active lifestyle and is a keen runner. He is a member of the Darwin Runners and Walkers Club and local Parkrun, and has completed five of the six major marathons around the globe.
